A 57’ curvilinear fence with CNC routed graphics activates a small triangular garden off the Oncology Unit at Boston Children's Hospital. Designed to provide privacy for patient rooms on this level and hide air in-take vents, the powder-coated undulating fence features graphics that bring green leafy imagery to the garden year-round and create a seek-and-find game for young patients.  Animal imagery is hidden throughout the curving leaf forms and illuminated at night with LEDs between the two layers. The reflections fill the courtyard, creating a magical effect.

The leafy pattern was based on a series of my hand-cut artworks and translated into vector graphics. The perforated pattern was developed to mitigate safety concerns and create variety. The fabricator used software designed to “bedazzle” clothing to distribute dots into a perforated pattern.

Angled panels with outdoor imagery bring life into an otherwise dreary hallway. Custom lenticular inserts move with the viewer, activating the space.

A series of wall-mounted sculptures designed and fabricated for the lobby of the Floating Hospital for Children, Boston, MA. The building’s architecture reflects the hospital’s history as a boat during Victorian times. Scale models were sized-up and cut from aluminum, hand-formed and riveted together. A slotted backing system allows the pieces to pop easily into place.

A series of 8 art walls in elevator lobbies of the Main inpatient building at Boston Children's Hospital allow you to explore Boston while still in the hospital. Large graphic panels hide monitors featuring video content sources from local organizations including the Red Sox, MFA Boston, Boston Harbor Islands, and Boston Children's Museum.

Proposal for Design Museum Boston's 2013 Street Seats Competition. In collaboration with Richard Bertman, CBT

Made from 100% reclaimed materials from local sign shops and construction projects. The layered design can be made of almost any flat material. The wide arm creates a place to rest your lunch, coffee or laptop. The curved, sloped back create a comfortable contour to lean against. Construction is fairly straightforward. Salvaged wood can be cut out with a jigsaw, which is preferable to CNC cut, both because of cost but also to create some variation which we liked in the model.
