“Seepocken”

This series is comprised of round, porcelain forms. The unglazed exterior has a shell-like quality and sheen achieved through burnishing and the vitreousness of the clay body with pale blue interior glaze that varies a bit in each form.

Seepocken is German for “barnacle” but also reminds one of “sea pocket” which seems apt for a small vessel. These fascinating creatures grow in clusters in areas of high activity and likewise, these pieces are meant to be in groups.
